Together with my partner Annette – an artist and church musician with a keen sense of aesthetics and rhythm – I noticed a striking discrepancy in the quality of shoelaces available during our travels. While in Italy we admired the superior qualities of the highest-quality, waxed laces on fine footwear, local shoe shops offered almost exclusively simple, often short-lived, mass-produced items.

Inspired by the Italian dedication to detail, we decided to fill this gap. We wanted to make the exceptional quality, usually found only in the original fittings of Italian luxury shoes, available to everyone as a reliable accessory, exclusively through our direct sales channel.

As a trained shoemaker with a master craftsman's certificate (earned in 1995), I don't see shoes as fashion items, but as a piece of engineering. Since the late 1980s, I have gained in-depth knowledge of dozens of workshops, tanneries, and suppliers across Europe. I understand how leather behaves and how pressure must be distributed within the shoe.

This knowledge informs every selection of our products. At LACCICO, there are no compromises: I personally inspect every batch – with the trained eye of a master craftsman and the touch of a skilled tradesman who knows what matters.

We have our shoelaces manufactured where the tradition of braiding is alive and well. In a traditional braiding workshop in Tuscany and in a specialized partner factory in Poland, our shoelaces are crafted from high-quality, regionally sourced yarns.

This is OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) quality, the same quality chosen by renowned Italian luxury shoe brands for their original equipment. Only a small portion of this exclusive product reaches the open market – we make this quality accessible to you.
